Laurin Catering Services - For all your catering needs.
Laurin Catering Services Business Opportunities.

Hello from Chef Dave!  We're always looking to add to our list of talented Cooks and Banquet servers!  This is a unique  business opportunity for anyone who's ever worked in food service industry.  From waiting tables to washing dishes, there's always a need for a good team of people.  This is where you come in.

Here at Laurin Catering, we know good talent when we see it.  I know that there are a lot of good cooks, waitstaff, dish washers and banquet and restaurant laborers out of work during these hard economic times.  I've been able to keep my business a float by making some extremely diverse decisions on how I want it to run.  This is a new age for the food and customer service industry.  The old ways are dying off and we, as cooks, chefs and waitstaff can either let that hard fact extinct us, or we can do things a little differently.  I propose, a change that will benefit our customers as well as ourselves, and keep the business up and running until we see light a the end of the economic slow down.

I will be collecting a list of "Independent Contractors"  to work with me on large scale banquets.  For most people it will be a chance to earn some extra money, and help themselves and their family out.  For some, it will be a beginning of their own personal small business.  The way I see it is, I'm doing all that I can to keep my overhead low, and the cost of marketing my business is such that it almost sank me in the first two months of having it open.  I cannot afford to hire anyone, and I've been doing most of my functions solo, but they've been small easy ones to handle.  I'd love to be able to do an old fashion, huge banquet like back in the days when I worked the hotel scene with 850+ in the grand ballroom and 250 by poolside, 175 in the outside tent and various conferences throughout the day.  And the day will come when we're able to do this.

To be a contract cook, or wait staff you must follow these simple rules, and I can help you out with some of them.  First, you must make sure that you've got health insurance.  In the state of MA, it is required that you have health insurance and it is required that your employer offer some kind of health insurance package.  Since, you'll be a contract cook, you'll be working for your own business, so you'll be responsible for providing your own health insurance.  This can be fulfilled through a different full time, or part time job, or through the State sponsored insurance program.  Secondly, you'll need to obtain your business identification number for tax purposes.  You'll be responsible for the taxes of your own business because  you'll be your own business entity. You can find many answers to questions about obtaining your tax identification number from this website: http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/moneymatters/a/needtaxid.htm

Once you've obtained your tax identification number, you may register your business name with the federal registry, or open a business bank account.  You may also open a business bank account using your social security number as long as it's a DBA or, Doing Business As, account.  Once you've done this, you've established your personal business identification, and you will be eligible to participate in my contract cooks program.

The Contract Cooks is pretty simple to work out.  Just fill out the form at the bottom of this page, and I'll add you to my list.  You'll receive an email address that I will post jobs on when I'm looking for contract cooks, waitstaff, or general food service workers.  Each job I have will be listed in an email.  You will be given a password to access the email.  You may check it as often as you wish, and you will be given instructions on bidding on each job, information on requirements and skill level required.

I'm excited about this new way of doing business and I hope you all are too!  It's just another way to be innovative in a highly competitive new job market.
